Not much updates lately but that's because I locked myself up in the shop and worked like crazy on the restoration of the Dart, it's straight now, in primer, inside's and doorjambs in the color, so one final sanding and then the finishing touch!

On our way to the Hot Rod Reunion we stopped by Gene Winfield's place, this was a long-cherished desire of me to meet this great man, one of the living legends in custom car building and painting. Mr Winfield is 86 years young now and still very busy at work. A really nice man, took a lot of time for us and showing us all around his workplace. He is famous for his fantastic ' fadeaway ' colors as you can see in the photo's I took. Here is the shop and this is his backyard

We went to the 20th Annual Hot Rod Reunion at Famoso raceway in Bakersfield, California. What a fantastic event!! The nostalgia funnycars / top fuel dragsters, the hot rods, the cacklefest, everything is awesome! To start is here a movie of the little cacklefest held at the Double Tree hotel in Bakersfield after the reception and drivers meeting.

Dart update

The past weeks I have been very busy with the respray of the '74 Dodge Dart, it needed a lot
of metal work but that's finished so I can start with straightening the body. First a coat of washprimer to cover the bare metal and I already sprayed the inside in the original Rallye red.
The walk-around above is made right after I finished spraying the inside, here are also a few pics.

Wild'r at Heart at Santa Pod! Mopar Nationals!

Here we are at the Mopar Nats in Santa Pod, a fantastic event, 3 days of non-stop dragracing, and the biggest collection of Chargers, Challengers, Super Bees and Road Runners I have ever seen in one place!
It was an emotional moment for all of us to see the Wild'r at Heart at the strip, the car is getting better and better, thanks everybody of the team, I had the time of my life! Click here for photo's!

Dragraces Drachten

Last weekend we went to the dragraces in Drachten, where the Wild'r at Heart was started for the very first time. It was a fantastic moment for everyone of the team to hear it, Rockin' Ramon also made a burn-out and that was so awesome that I forgot to take pictures!

I started a new project, a 1974 Dodge Dart Sport, total restoration of the body, it needs some welding but before that all the sheetmetal was acid-dipped to remove all the paint.
After welding and straightening the body it will be sprayed in the original red color.

Metalflake

Metalflake, I can't get enough of it, everything should be flaked!
So if you want metalflake on your car, motorcycle, bicycle, computer case, fridge,
kitchen cabinets, helmet or whatever you can think of, bring it on!
I even flaked a pair of shoes...

Stealth Black

The trend of matte colors is growing, I got this shiny black Corvette to turn to matte black.
The assignment was simple; you have two weeks and it should be perfect!
Actually, matte is never simple, it's one of the hardest paints to spray evenly.
PPG Paints I must thank for their excellent support during the job.

The '71 Charger Wild'r at Heart was rolled outside today so Nick could photograph it,
the car looks so awesome from every angle, we all can't wait to see it thundering down the quarter mile!

It's a long time since my last post but it's a very busy time for me, normally I spray at a friends' spraybooth, not very handy so I bought my own, we had to take it down ourselves (thx Rob, Gerard and Boris!), transport it and now i'm rebuilding the fans, heater etc. and build it up again! Wich is a massive job btw, spray booths do have a lot of parts...

During this day the new dragrace team Liquid Titanium / Wild'r at Heart will be presented to the public.
